Dear friends,
please accept my cordial invitation to watch the live broadcast of an international conference that will deal with an important and topical topic. Current events constantly remind us that the world is not a safe place. Our country, like the whole of Europe, faces security challenges – from cyber attacks to international terrorism to armed conflicts in the Central European area, the Middle East (May conference) and tensions in the Indo-Pacific. We cannot afford to ignore these threats, because they directly and indirectly affect the security of the Czech Republic.

It is up to us to be able to name these risks in a timely and clear manner, and above all, to actively seek ways to counter them. The key to success is close cooperation between national security authorities and sharing strategic experience with foreign partners, whether it is expanding defence capacities, using modern military technologies, expanding analytical capabilities, strengthening cyber defence, or the resilience of state institutions and the population. Only an open and professional debate will help us find effective solutions to strengthen the defence capabilities of our state.

I am glad that we will have the opportunity to discuss all these challenges with leading Czech, Ukrainian, Taiwanese and other experts directly on the premises of the Chamber of Deputies.

PSP ČR PhDr. Pavel Žáček, Ph.D.
